Centenarians, 1953-1962
Taken from burials volume, 1953-62
When told that there were 58 persons buried between 1953-1962 whose ages were given as 100 years or older, friends were not too skeptical. “That’s very possible. They lived longer back then.”
But when I reported that the oldest persons in the volume were said to have died at age 150, 135, three at 130, 121 and six at 120, everyone exclaimed: “Impossible!”
The 58 century kegs came from these barrios: Napo – 13; Guadalupe – 10, Ocaña – 10; Canasujan – 6; Buenavista – 4, Valencia – 4; Calidngan – 3, Poblacion – 3, Valladolid – 3; Bolinawan – 1, Liburon – 1.
Take it or leave it. I tried to trace them based on my files, but apparently, my files are still so woefully inadequate. And while there were indeed some names that appeared, but either I have no record of their births to form any definitive conclusion, or whether they were really the same individuals as the ones on the list, and not just sharing the same names.
I invite descendants who recognize a name on the list below to share with me anything genealogical they know of the person: his pedigree (parentage or grandparentage), spouse, children, etc. so we may be able to continue our research of these extraordinary Carcar people.
Anyway, here are the 58 centenarians (parenthesis at the end are mostly the parents as mentioned in the burial record itself, or of one which must have been the person’s spouse):
Jaime Satorre Nadela, 100 (Canasujan) calc. 1853 – 6-Jun-1953 (Mamerto-Perpetua Satorre)
Reconstructing his family group record, Jaime’s youngest sibling was born 1895 or, if we are to take his given age of 100 in his burial record, 42 years after him. Their mother, Perpetua would have been at least 62 years old also, quite a biblical age to give birth to a child. Thus, it is likelier that Jaime was born nearer to 1874 (based on his age 18 in his 1892 marriage record). But if born 1874, then he was only 79 when he died.
Mariano Saranon, 105 (Buenavista) calc. 1848 – 10-Jun-1953
Basilisa Gemal, 102 (Ocaña) calc. 1851 – 24-Oct-1953
Victorino Lapiña, 105 (Guadalupe) calc. 1849 – 7-Jan-1954
Gertrudes Septin, 105 (Bolinawan) calc. 1849 – 12-Jan-1954
Rufina Padin, 106 (Ocaña) calc. 1848 – 12-Jan-1954 (Eugenio-Segunda)
Felix Bustiga, 100 (Napo) calc. 1854 – 21-Apr-1954 (Narciso-Juana)
Luciano Alentiojo Navarro, 105 (Valencia) calc. 1850 – 19-Feb-1955 (Remigio-Jacoba Alentiojo)
His grandparents, Vidal Navarro and Teodorcia Alcuesar, were married 1842. The probability therefore is that his father Remigio was born after 1842, making it nigh impossible that Luciano was born in the 1850s. If born after 1855, Luciano would not have been a centenarian at his death.
Juana Navarro, 130 (Calidngan) calc. 1825 – 31-May-1955
Margarita Arnaez, 110 (Ocaña) calc. 1845 – 13-Aug-1955
Anatalia Fernandez, 110 (Liburon) calc. 1845 – 24-Oct-1955
Francisco Cuizon, 108 (Canasujan) calc. 1847 – 10-Nov-1955 (Procopio-N.)
Anstasio Bolandres Empantado, 120 (Napo) calc. 1835 – 18-Nov-1955 (Inocentes-Remigia Bolandres)
Simeona Medalla Abellana, 130 (Calidngan) calc. 1825 – 20-Nov-1955 (Colaseto-Alejandra Medalla)
I have no record of her, but children of Simeona’s siblings were born 1880-1900s—when Simeona would have been 55-75 plus already.
Patricio Manano, 100 (Napo) calc. 1856 – 11-Feb-1956
Dominga Genololo Canencia, 120 (Buenavista) calc. 1836 – 13-Feb-1956 (Guillermo-Eleuteria Genololo)
Paterna Labita, 100 (Valencia) calc. 1856 – 16-Apr-1956
Gabina Labanon, 110 (Poblacion) calc. 1846 – 23-Apr-1956
Benita Tiro, 110 (Calidngan) calc. 1846 – 27-Apr-1956
Margarita Manlanguit Repolida, 101 (Valladolid) calc. 1855 – 21-Jul-1956 (Cristito-Matea Manlanguit)
Juana Gempesao, 100 (Napo) calc. 1856 – 30-Jul-1956
Miguel Cerra(?) Malinao, 100 (Ocaña) calc. 1856 – 9-Sep-1856 (Agustin-Antonia Cerra)
Marta Dayondon, 103 (Napo) calc. 1854 – 19-Jan-1957
Eleno Fano, 120 (Canasujan) calc. 1837 – 29-Jan-1957 (Balbina Canania)
Dionesio Barluado Illorda, 120 (Guadalupe) calc. 1837 – 4-Mar-1957 (Basilio-Lucinda Barluado)
Toribio Genobiaga, 105 (Ocaña) calc. 1852 – 14-Apr-1957
Domingo Yamid Ledesma, 108 (Buenavista) calc. 1849 – 18-Apr-1957 (Enrique-Florentina Yamid)
Aurea Sato, 102 (Canasujan) calc. 1855 – 26-Apr-1957
Basilio Durarte, 110 (Napo) calc. 1847 – 2-May-1957
Venancia Sabay, 104 (Poblacion) calc. 1854 – 21-Feb-1958
Marcelino Lausa, 103 (Buenavista) calc. 1855 – 24-Apr-1958
In my files is a Marcelino Lausa (married to Berica Lanahon) but their only child about whom I have a record, Engracia, was born 1851. So, either this must be a different Marcelino, or if the same, then Marcelino was born around 1830 and should actually be more than 120 years at his death.
Pastor Abellana, 103 (Valencia) calc. 1855 – 15-Sep-1958
A Pastor Abellana is in the family group record as son of Crispino and Luisa Madaya. Records of two of his children with wife Eugenia Baclay are born 1903 and 1904 making him 48, 49 years then, if true. If he was born in Carcar, it would be great to really trace him back, just to validate this death record.
Pedro Traya, 100 (Valladolid) calc. 1858 – 30-Sep-1958
Agueda Empacis, 107 (Guadalupe) calc. 1851 – 17-Dec-1958
