Starting person Felipa (AKA Josefa) Villarosa got married, after her two Villarosa sons, to Bibiano Base, a native and resident of Cebu City. I failed to get any record of this wedding in Carcar but since Felipa was also said to have been a resident of the city, they may have been wed in Cebu City. It was really only son Mariano Hino Villarosa with many records available in Carcar. There are indications that other son Pantaleon, although on record as also having been a cabeza in Carcar, lived first in Bacolod and even his first wife, Simona Espinosa, was said to be a native of Bacolod. I have no Carcar record of any children of Pantaleon and Simona, which may be a further indication that they first resided in Bacolod. But, Simona was buried (and most probably died) in Carcar in 1876. I would really love to communicate with the Bacolod Villarosa (they are there in Bacolod) family as they may be Pantaleon and Simona’s descendants, along with other Villarosas who may have migrated to other places.

The children of Felipa and Bibiano Base are not included here except for a record or two about them, mainly because an issue still has to be resolved: a perceived son, Juan Base de Villarrosa always wrote his name thus, the Spanish way with his paternal before the maternal surname (plus the double-r). Apparently, later on his descendants, probably influenced by the American way, or other reasons, later dropped the Base itself and are now called Villarosa. That is, if the family are actually the descendants of Felipa and Bibiano and Juan, although my bet is that they are.

The definitive lineage of Flora Base-Mercado, Nyora Lolang, wife of Mayor Mariano Mercado, is still also to be researched. She may have been a daughter or grand-daughter of Felipa and Bibiano Base. Add to the fact that her closest contacts in Carcar were the Villarosas.

In the 2010 Voters list for Carcar, there are 21 voters surnamed Villarosa.
